Projects and Web Applications

Cook County Assessor's Office

Time Clock Scan Stations with RFID

Combining radio frequency identification technology (RFID) and a custom-built administrative web application, the RFID station project makes time tracking easier for the employees of the Cook County Assessor's Office.

With credit-card sized RFID tags, employees simply tap their ID to the box to scan in and out of the office every day, with the application and database managing the check-ins. Employees are wished a friendly "Welcome" or "Goodbye" and visually notified if they scan in late or scan out early.

Within the online time management application, employees can request time off and view their time entries. Managers can edit an employee’s expected work schedule and be notified if an employee scans in late or scans out early. Overtime and sick days are automatically calculated and deducted from allowances through the system. The web application also generates custom PDF reports for download by managers and human resources staff.

The RFID time clock scan stations and integrated web application simplify and enrich the recording and reporting process of time entries for managers and employees.
